Intermingle

Intermingling is a technology which is very economical than the older technologies like sizing, twisting in synthetic yarn weaving. In this technology air causes the filaments will be intertwined and mingled with each other to form a compact section. Intermingling finds applications in while spinning stage, at drawing stage and also at warping. Intermingling jet parameters, Machine parameters, Feed yarn properties affects intermingling process. The performance of intermingling process is generally evaluated on the basis of nip frequency, nip stability and nip uniformity.

Intermingling process When a loose bundle of filament yarn (flat or textured filaments) subjected to the effect of perpendicular turbulent cold air jet, the air flow will open up the filament while at the at the immediate vicinity of the opened up section, the filaments will be intertwined and mingled with each other to form a compact section.

If the yarn travels in the direction of its long axis while the perpendicular air jet is stationary, the opened up and mingled section follow each other because of the jet fails to open up a section that has already been mingled. Thus a cohesion is imported on the originally lose yarn. No change is created in the basic filament both physically and chemically, though the filament spatial position is altered. Therefore the overall yarn properties do not change appreciably i.e. a flat yarn is still flat and a stretch texture yarn is still stretchable. The process of imparting intermittent mingled and opened sections along the yarn by means of a cold air stream is called as intermingling process

NIM (non-intermingled):0-10 knots per meter
NIM means having no knots.

SIM (slight-intermingled): 40-50 knots per meter
SIM is that the network fastness is very low. And it is pulled scattered with hand dragging polyester yarn.

HIM (high-intermingled) :100-120 knots per meter
HIM means to pull the polyester yarn very hard by hand, and it is difficult to spread the pull.
